Come Ride With Us Through The Towns Of Florida & Glen

03-04-2010

 ALL TRAILS ARE NOW CLOSED!!!!

So here is a statement from the webmaster in regards to a recent post on our message board and other comments around town in the last month. Although I as webmaster Jd Downing, have not had this cleared by the board of directors, I am going to try and clear up some of the misconceptions out their.  First off, my position of Public Relations, Membership Director, and Webmaster are appointed, not elected. This 2009-2010 season I was elected to the Vice Presidents position. Elections for this season where held back in September. There have been no other elections since! For the last several years I have always maintained the website in a way that was for the betterment of the club and our membership along with all of those that visit our club trail area's. Unfortunately this season we had our first really serious accident on our trail system back in January. After being at this accident as fire chief of the Glen Fire Dept. I posted information that had already been posted in the papers and on TV news sites about what had happened and why it happened. A very short time after this information was posted on the club web site, I was instructed by the President of our club,  who was pressured by several directors of our club to remove the info. This action was taken because a few of the directors, who didn't ask questions first, felt the info left our club open to liability, and was a little rough on the individuals involved in the accident. At the time that the post and info was removed, the President and Chairman of the Directors where informed by myself that since the directors felt they knew better then I did about what should be posted on the site, that I would not post anything else until directed to do so by the Board of Directors from that point foreword. There was NO meeting at the end of Jan. for the Board, there has not yet been a meeting for Feb., so there is no info on the home page of our website.  As far as negative posts on our message board, I have not listed negative messages, their have been several postings by officers of our club that could be felt as negative by those with a guilty conscience, if you have not been busting your chops, spending 50 plus hrs working on the groomers, out helping speak with land owners, out putting up signs and clearing brush then I could see how a message board post could be seen as negative. Back on Sept. 10th I posted the first message on the message board, since then I have been very tolerant of the messages left while asking people to follow the rules or the message board would change to accepted message's only! Viewers of the message board continue to post with out listing their real names or real emails. This is going to stop or their will be no message board at all. If you post something that leaves the club liable then we need to be able to track the users, this is info that has come from our ins. company. Just as my post of the accident had been cleared by the ins. company but nobody had cared enough to ask before having a fit about the post!
I have been involved with this club since it's inception at Partner's almost 11 years ago. Many of those who are officers of this club as of this season where not involved at all back then. If it where not for the president and myself doing all that we do YEAR ROUND, our club would be in a much different place right now. Neither one of us have ever bragged about what we do, but unfortunately their are several people who feel they know better then us when it comes to what's right for the club. Step up and into our shoes and do the same if not better job and then tell Eric and I how bad things are. People have not been able to go out and ride around the neighborhood so they spend their time tearing other people down, that shows how much you care about Your club! Its time for several to grow up, Put Up or Shut Up, is more like it. I personally don't care about any persecutions that come from this post via the micro managers, I know I have done things RIGHT by the club as a whole. I know longer care about those who THINK they know better. If you have any further complaints, your directors names are listed on the web site, look them up, since they didn't want their numbers listed on the site, and give them a call at all hours of the day and night and let them know how you feel. This way your wishes will be heard, lets see if they follow through with them as I have for how long?
I have not enjoyed this snow less season at all. I have gotten the phone calls from pissed off landowners, Mont. County DPW asking about the bike path, The Sheriffs office, State Police, Parks and Rec, DEC, asking about our closed trails and the people out ridding on them. This info has mainly not been posted because I felt it was better dealt with instead of broadcast across the site! I guess my decision was not the right one. I apologize, I should have posted every detail to everyone, and bored you to sleep! Someday all club members will realize that snowmobile clubs are a year round organization, there is more to do through out the year then members have to do to their sleds in 1 month to get ready for each season. If you ever have a doubt, just ask to go to a couple of the dozens of meetings a year, ask to watch the paperwork filled out for the state  up to 4 times a year. Maybe then people will understand better.
Take all of the above for what its worth to each and everyone reading! If this sounds like whining and complaining to some of you, SO BE IT! I really don't care, there are some who really do want to know what's going on and what it takes to make things tick! Then there are those of you who like to think they are lawyers, groomers professionals, pro-snowmobilers, grant writers, membership directors, and Public Relations Officers, good luck to all of the later, next year you could be holding your hand where the sun doesn't shine, and the rest will be standing there asking YOU WHY! Step up folks, our club needs individuals who really do care about the club more then they care about ridding their own sleds. This will only happen if you take charge and get involved. I couldn't put it in a more negative way! PS- I did not want to stray from m negitive post's.
